We listen to the client’s wants regarding the aesthetic they are looking for. Choosing the size and shape of one’s breast is an individualized choice and we ensure that our clients are able to explore a range of different shapes, sizes, and projections, created for personalized results that can be trusted. Our meticulous selection of surgeons ensures a seamless transformation to the breasts you are seeking.
If you have sizeable breasts, it is usually advised to undergo a breast reduction simultaneously with the breast lift to achieve beautiful and harmonious results.
In a lift, the nipple area is moved up to the natural and desired position on the chest, while tightening the chest by removing the excess skin. All the scars of a breast lift will be placed under and around the nipple. Depending on how pronounced the breast hangs, different techniques can be used to achieve ideal results with minimal scarring.
When you have decided to go ahead with your breast lift, the first step is to book a consultation with a plastic surgeon.
The planning before a breast lift
The skin on the breasts can look like a bag whose contents mainly consist of fat and mammary gland tissue. When the skin bag becomes more relaxed, at the same time as the content decreases or sinks down, the appearance of the bag changes.
Surgical procedure for a breast lift
The appearance of the breast can be improved by stretching/reducing it (skin removal), filling it (breast implant) and by moving the contents up.
During a breast lift, depending on which method is used, one or more of these procedures are performed, often also in combination with a change in the size and position of the nipple.
The operation
The first thing that happens when you arrive at the clinic on the day of surgery is that you are registered and allocated a patient room. There you will then change into surgical clothes and meet your surgeon, who will answer questions, take pictures and draw up the operation area.
After meeting with your surgeon, you will receive some preparatory medication, rest for a while and then be taken by a nurse to the operating room.
Normally, the patient leaves the clinic the same day after a couple of hours of rest. If necessary or the patient wishes, the patient can stay overnight.
Immediately after your breast lift, an elastic support bandage is placed around the breasts. In some cases, compresses are worn under a tight-fitting sports bra. Sometimes a drainage tube is inserted to drain blood and fluid accumulations from the operation area.
Pain and discomfort after a breast lift
You will experience pain in the first few days after the operation, especially when you move. Afterwards and during the first 7-10 days, you will experience some discomfort.
Removal of bandage and stitches
The bandage is removed within a couple of days after your breast lift.
Sensitivity changes
As a result of the swelling, you will experience reduced sensitivity in the skin and nipples.
Work and physical activities after a breast lift
Although you’ll be up and moving after just a day or two, you should avoid lifting heavy objects for the first month after surgery.
Women with breasts of a satisfactory size, but with a lot of breast sagging, laxity or with areola/nipples that point downwards can expect good results from the procedure.
Even very large breasts with large overhangs can be lifted. However, the result tends not to be as lasting as with a breast lift for normal-sized or smaller breasts. Patients with very large breasts are therefore often recommended to undergo a breast reduction .
There are different surgical methods for breast lift. In principle, these differ from each other in terms of how extensive changes will be achieved in relation to the patient’s starting position.
Which method is used in each individual case is determined by a combination of the following factors:
In the first instance , the various breast lift methods differ in terms of how much breast sagging can be removed. Generally speaking, one can say that the more hanging the surgeon has to remove, the larger the incision has to be used. Below is a description of the most common options.
In patients with a small breast sag, a smaller breast implant with a large face can be used to fill in the skin of the breast.
In some cases where there is only minor breast sagging, an areola lift, so-called periareolar mastopexy, may be sufficient.
To treat more extensive breast sagging, remove more significant amounts of excess skin and move the breasts up more, the skin below the areola is required to be stretched.
A breast lift is considered relatively risk-free as long as it is performed by a qualified surgeon. With a breast lift, just like with all other plastic surgery, there is a certain risk of side effects and complications.
In addition to the general risks of plastic surgery that are described in general risks of plastic surgery , there are specific risks associated with a breast lift. These are described in more detail below.
The breast lift leaves noticeable permanent scars where the incision has been made.
The operation may result in minor differences in the appearance of the breasts and the position of the areola.
Some patients experience partial or complete loss of sensitivity in the nipples or in the entire breasts.
With large breast lifts, the possibilities for future breastfeeding may disappear.
Some patients are affected by soreness around the nipple.
